The Government give schools funding for physical education (PE) and school sport. Through what is known as a ‘Sport Premium’ the Government has provided funding to support the delivery of PE and sport in primary schools.
This funding will be ring fenced, and will be allocated directly to primary schools across England, providing them with dedicated resource to buy in invaluable expertise and support. Funding will be allocated through a lump sum for each school and a per-pupil top-up mechanism.
The formula will reference the number of primary-aged pupils (i.e. children between the ages of 5 and 11). At Cayton Primary School, we are using our funding to enhance PE and Sport via investment in new resources, working with outside sporting agencies and enhancing our Mental Health and Wellbeing curriculum by using the great outdoors as a means of keeping fit and healthy.

The percentage of your current Year 6 cohort that swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m.
The percentage of your current Year 6 cohort that use a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke]
The percentage of your current Year 6 cohort that perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
Scarborough and District Sports Association
The school is a member of the Scarborough & District primary Schools’ Sports Association which aims to provide sporting events for all the schools in the area and information about the many events it organises can be found here.
