Welcome to the Year 6 class page! Your teachers this year will be Mrs Draper and Mrs Wendon with support for this half term from Mr Sutherland. In Year 6, we will be inspiring you to work hard throughout the year to prepare you for secondary school and beyond. There will also be exciting topics, trips and activities to get stuck into! Year 6 is a chance for a fresh start where we can enjoy our last year together as a class and make many memories before our Leaver's Play (which will be lots of fun!) We are looking forward to seeing you grow into responsible, independent and hard-working learners and we will support you throughout this last year of primary school. Let's go for it!
What are we learning about?
Stanley Yelnats has been sent to Camp Green Lake, a juvenile detention center for boys. But the boys at Camp Green Lake have to do an unusual thing. Everyday they have to dig a hole, five feet deep and five feet wide. Camp Green Lake calls the place they dig a lake, but really it's all dried up. It's enormous, and it's the perfect, tiring surface for digging holes.
The first hole's the worst.
No, the second.
Actually, the third?
Why are they digging? Is there a secret treasure or mystery buried within? Stanley is about to find out...
