These are nine protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. These are discussed with children through the PSHE scheme and in assemblies for children to have a greater understanding of these characteristics and how we should view and respect these in all areas of our lives.
